Our core business for General Engineering Construction is the
construction of water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, chemical
facilities, power generation plants, material handling and industrial manufacturing
plants.
Our work is usually performed as a general contractor on a lump
sum basis for fully designed public works projects. Projects range in size
and complexity from $200,000 to 50,000,000.
We also perform work on a design/build or turnkey basis with
a target fee or guaranteed maximum price. This type of project is often beneficial
for the customer who must start a project while designs are not complete.
We directly employ skilled tradesmen including carpenters, millwrights,
plumbers, pipefitters, operating engineers, sheetmetal workers and laborers.
We generally self perform earthwork, dewatering, structural concrete, pipe
fabrication and installation, steel erection, HVAC, process equipment and conveyer
installations including start-up and testing. We will often subcontract specialty
trades including reinforcing steel, painting, paving, architectural features
and electrical work.
We maintain our own fleet of construction equipment suitable
for our work. This fleet includes trucks, cranes, excavators, loaders, forklifts
and other necessary support equipment. Construction equipment is repaired and
maintained in a fully equipped mechanic facility in Oakland. In addition, we
have the necessary mobile equipment for on-site maintenance of equipment.
Size, experience, dependable quality and financial stability
have made Monterey Mechanical one of the most versatile and respected contractors
in industrial construction.
