Community Involvement
At Monterey Mechanical, we care about more than the success of our clients and infrastructure owners, we also invest in the success of our community.
Community involvement and contributions to charitable programs is a long-standing corporate value that has been adopted wholeheartedly by our employees. For more than 30 years, we have contributed money and many hundreds of volunteer hours to improve the communities where we live and work. Some of the programs and organizations we support are listed below.
Blood Drives – The American Red Cross empowers ordinary people to perform extraordinary acts of service. Blood donors at Monterey Mechanical are ordinary people, but they share a generous spirit and a desire to give back to their community and help others. With 20+ volunteers from our company, the most recent blood drive was a huge success. Our donors supplied local hospitals and several fire damaged areas around California with crucial blood donations. Many life-saving medical treatments and procedures involve blood transfusions that would not be possible without a safe and reliable blood supply.
Food Drives – For more than 30 years, the Alameda County Community Food Bank has stood by their unwavering belief that food is a basic human right. They distribute millions of healthy meals every year, and are on the forefront of new approaches to ending hunger and poverty. Employees at Monterey Mechanical contribute to the Food Bank by with food donations and volunteering at the local food bank to help ensure that children, adults and seniors in Alameda County know where their next meal will come from.
Habitat for Humanity – The Habitat for Humanity East Bay Playhouse Program is a unique building opportunity that provides children in the community with a place to call their own, while also supporting our mission to provide families with affordable housing solutions. On Playhouse Build Days, Monterey Mechanical volunteers worked together to construct and decorate children’s playhouses, which are then donated to families and community charities.
Earth Day Beach Clean-Up – In partnership with SFPUC and Kayaks Unlimited, Monterey Mechanical participates in Earth Day annual coastal clean-up. Between the Booster and Sunnydale Pump Stations, we average removing more than 450 lbs. of trash from our coastlines each year.
Toys for Tots – Toys for Tots helps less fortunate children throughout the United States experience the joy of Christmas and play an active role in the development of one of our nation’s most valuable resources – our children. Each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign, Monterey Mechanical hosts a toy drive to contribute to the betterment of our East Bay/Oakland community.
One Warm Coat – One Warm Coat is a national non-profit organization that works to provide a free warm coat to any person in need. Monterey Mechanical hosts a coat drive each holiday season to help benefit the men, women, and children in East Bay/Oakland area in need of a warm coat.
